COBALT
Marc Gottlieb
spent most of the early 90's in New York partying (a lot) at clubs like
The Palladium, Au Bar, Tunnel, and (the old) Sound Factory. After directing
a feature film in 1995, he moved to Los Angeles, where a career in the
film industry awaited, and an inevitable return to clubbing and partying
(a lot) took place. Seeing Underworld perform live gave him a new-found
inspiration to start spinning records, and thus a sideline hobby quickly
turned into a mild obsession. He matched his first beats roughly two years
ago, and he's been trainwrecking less and less since. Finding major influences
in the sounds of Sander Kleinenberg, Tom Stephan, and Steve Lawler, Marc
plays his own brand of techy grooves and thick basslines, with a blend
of tribal funk added for good measure. His approach to every set is simple:
take the party on a rollercoaster ride for the senses
